Justice Campaigners Receive Honours - BBC News

Updated: 5 days ago

Two women sit on a gray couch, filmed by a camera. The setting is a cozy living room with flowers and framed photos. Calm atmosphere.

Last week we provided a crew to BBC News to film an interview with Carole Gould and Julie Devey. Their daughters - Ellie Gould, 17, and Poppy Devey Waterhouse, 24 - were murdered by their boyfriends at home.

Carole and Julie were appointed OBEs for their work co-founding the group 'Killed Women'. The pair have jointly called for an increase in the starting tariff for murders in the home from 15 years to 25 years.

In March 2021, Ms Gould successfully fought to change a law on sentencing for teenage killers - dubbed Ellie's Law - so they could be given longer sentences.

You can see the film below which aired on BBC Points West / BBC South Today on 26/3/25 and BBC Breakfast on 27/3/25. The BBC's web article can be seen here.

In November 2019 our cameraman Tom and Fiona filmed the very first interview with Ellie's mum Carole.

The moving interview can be seen below.
