Starting February 19th 2025, there will be changes to Facebook Live that will impact how you broadcast on the platform and how your legacy files are stored.
New live broadcasts videos can be replayed, downloaded or shared for just 30 days, after which time they will automatically be removed from Facebook. Previously these videos were stored indefinitely.
As part of this transition, all live videos that are currently over 30 days old will be deleted, and you will no longer have access to them. The deletion will occur over the next few months, and Facebook states they will offer new tools for users to download their old live videos before they are gradually removed. You will get a notification from Facebook, after which you will have 90 days to decide what to do with your old live content: download it to your device, transfer it to cloud storage, or convert it into a new reel.
If you require more time to download your old live videos, Facebook offers the option to postpone deletion for an additional six months. After this period, if no decision is made, your old live videos will be deleted and will no longer be accessible.
If you're looking for a company to live stream your event do get in touch with us.
