Bristol Suitcase Murders - Live Drone & Ground Camera
Last week we were deployed by BBC News to provide live drone coverage of the Clifton Suspension Bridge which had been closed following the grizzly discover of human remains in two suitcases.
Ground camera crews were unable to get shots of the site and the crime scene tent.
Our CAA qualified drone pilot was on scene in around an hour and provided live pictures via our LiveU encoder for the six and ten o'clock news including headlining the programmes.
Using a CAA trained drone pilot with the correct licences is faster, cheaper and more controlled than deploying a helicopter. It allows you to get within 5 metres of the area in focus with our smaller drone and 50 metres with our larger drone. Pair this with our LiveU and your director or producer can request exact shots and angles as we fly.
You can see some of the footage below.
After the live broadcast we continued to film the scene and sent this footage back to the BBC. This footage has then been used extensively in the BBC coverage since.
The following day we returned to the scene and provided ground based filming including live broadcasts into 'Points West' the BBC's regional news programme with Fiona Lamdin.
We also covered a police press conference at the scene which was broadcast live to the BBC's news channel and other platforms.
You can read more about the story here.
If you need a film crew either for ground filming or in the air to cover your story or event please do get in touch.
